Depression

You face another day with dread.

“I should get out of bed… Why can’t I get out of bed? I need to get up and get out of bed.”

This ongoing conversation is one that you have with yourself often.

Sometimes, it’s about getting out of bed. At other times, it’s about running an errand you have been putting off for weeks.

Even texting someone back or starting a job search generate no excitement.

Simple tasks seem overwhelming.

There is something unreasonably overwhelming about doing what seems like simple tasks.

Activities that you’ve enjoyed in the past feel bothersome or maybe even anxiety-inducing.

Living with depression is like putting a filter over your life.

It’s a filter that blocks out joy, confidence, and contentment but amplifies struggle, bleakness, and regret.

The longer that you live with that filter, the more you believe that it is accurate.

Maybe it’s time to overthrow the dictator.
